Stop regulations (1) No vehicle is allowed to stop or remain stationary at a highway or motorway, unless it is necessary to stop due to mechanical problems, due to an accident, illness or other emergency situation. In such a case, the vehicle is driven or removed from the road, the soonest possible and remain stationary on the hard shoulder. A reflective cone/triangle must be placed at a distance of approximately fifty (50) meters behind the said vehicle. (2) A vehicle which has stopped at the hard shoulder of the road for the above reasons, may remain stationed for up to 24 hours, provided that no part of the vehicle obstructs or may endanger other vehicles when using the road. When part of the said vehicle is extended within the road, the Police are immediately informed and give relevant directions. (3) It is not permitted for a vehicle to stop or remain stationary at the hard shoulder of a motorway or highway, unless in cases and according to the provisions mentioned in subparagraphs (2) and (3) above.
